Special Library Event in Honor of Women’s History Month in March

On Wednesday March 19th at 7 pm, the Farmington Library will host an author talk and book signing with Connecticut author Billie Alban. Alban is author of The Handbook of Large Group Methods, published in 2006 by Jossey Bass.

In addition to being an author, Billie Alban is business leader, and role model for women in business. Alban is President and Senior Partner of Alban and Williams, Ltd., Consultants to Organizations. From 1960 to 1965, she was Vice President, and General Manager of Transpetroleo Corporation in South America. Since 1965, she has won distinction as a national and international management consultant.

Some of her activities include: strategic planning and organizational re-design. She has worked with joint ventures and helped in the development of international management teams. In recent years, her practice has been focused on working with organizations and communities on large-scale change efforts, using highly participative methods, which increase the ownership of the new strategies, direction, and structure.

Some of Alban's clients include ITT, General Electric, Kraft General Foods, Bankers Trust, Johnson and Johnson, NASA, Mount Sinai Hospital, NY, National Health Service, UK, The Kings Fund, UK (Think Tank for British Health Care), Exxon/Mobil Corporation, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Equitable Life, Hewlett-Packard, and INTEL. In addition, Billie has consulted to non-profit and government organizations. Some of these clients include: The Protestant Welfare Organization in New York City, The United Way, the city of Danbury, The Department of Social Welfare in New Zealand, and the IRS. She does pro-bono work in her community, and for various church organizations.
